Understanding Insurance + Functional Medicine
Since functional medicine is not a covered benefit and we are out of network with your insurance, your insurance does not cover physician appointments. However, our patients are sometimes able to use their non PPO insurance to cover other aspects of their medical care (i.e. core labs through quest / lab corp, medication, referrals). Each person’s insurance coverage is subject to change and is beyond our control.

We offer a hybrid payment option that combines insurance with supplemental fees for specialty services.
Supplemental fees cover:

Continued Care
CIA:
After seeing Dr. Lai, you will be recommended options for continued care based on your health goals & concerns & the doctor’s discretion. Appointments range from $120 to $220 per visit, plus membership as low as $35 per month.
EFM:
After meeting with Dr. Lai, you will be recommended options for continued care based on your health goals & concerns & the doctor’s discretion. Appointments range from $120 to $220 per visit, plus membership as low as $35 per month.
FNP:
Can upgrade to include Dr. Lai and functional medicine components as needed
Flexibility: You can always upgrade your care level later as your needs or budget allow. Starting with FNP or EFM doesn’t lock you out of comprehensive functional medicine services.

Based on your interest form indicating you want comprehensive functional medicine evaluation, advanced specialty labs, or root cause analysis, the CIA is your best match.

If you’re not ready to start with the comprehensive assessment, you can begin with EFM (Explore Functional Medicine), which has a more focused scope and excludes the specialty tests and full root cause analysis.
